Our R&D team has developed a safe and efficient route for Valproic Acid, which avoids high temperature reaction.
We have recently improved processes of manufacturing Anti-malarial drugs – Artemether and Lumefantrine – at our bulk manufacturing facility at Tarapur, near Mumbai. The emphasis is on cleaner and efficient processes which are environment friendly with added advantage of improved purity.
We are constantly improving our skills in chiral chemistry and have successfully applied in development of chiral molecules like Eszopiclone and custom synthesis projects.
Calyx R&D is strongly backed with a team of highly experienced process chemists and chemical engineers who work in Kilo Lab. The Calyx R&D Team is thus equipped to deliver any CRAMS project from Concept to Delivery. All stages of each project - from the R&D to Manufacturing are adequately supported and integrated with Quality Control, Analytical Method Development, HES&S – Health, Environment, Safety and Security.

Despite the fact of a world-wide economic meltdown affecting economy of Japan too to great extent, Calyx has bagged prestigious orders for the custom synthesis of Pharmaceutical intermediates from Japan. Our exports of API to South East Asian countries have picked up quite briskly. We have successfully introduced our APIs Cardiovascular Drugs in Sartan series in Eastern market. The road ahead for our Sartans molecules looks promising.

Our growth rate for contract manufacturing and research in the US continues steadily as we gain confidence and continued support from our esteemed customers.
Mexico and Latin America – The fast-growing market of this region continues to be an attraction especially for bulk requirements for anti-tuberculosis and antibiotics.

The credit squeeze is also affecting the pharmaceutical industry, as banks are not releasing finance even within sanctioned limits and overdrafts against receivables are being denied.
All this adds up to an uncertain future for pharmaceutical firms that depend on exports in the US and in Europe. What happens in the next six months will really decide how the industry that has weathered many a storm in the past would perform in the current scenario. |
