| Development at Calyx R&D Centre |
Analytical Development:
Analytical Development Laboratory (ADL) at Calyx has contributed to the success of our API Development & CRAMS business. The analytical team has developed novel methods for resolution of positional isomers and difficult to resolve enantiomers using Chiral columns. Residual solvent methods have been developed and validated for 0.1ppm detection limits.
Ion chromatographic methods for detection @ ppm level have been developed for cations like Na+, K+, NH4+, Li+, Ca2+, Mg2+; and anions like chlorate, chlorite, chloride; bromide, bromate, azide, fluoride, nitrite, nitrate & sulphate.
The 400 MHz NMR has been extensively used for structural elucidation of unknown compounds, reference standards & impurities prepared for API’s by employing 2D techniques like COSY, NOSY, HETCOR, HMBC & HMQC.
Due to the strong analytical support Calyx has filed over seven DMF’s with US-FDA, two DMF’s with Health Canada, two CEP dossiers with EDQM and seventeen patents in the last two years.
Kilo Lab :
Calyx Kilo Lab actively pursuit scale-up of CRAMS and API. With the emphasis on Safety, Environment, Productivity and Cost Effectiveness, the Team has a right blend of Chemists and Chemical Engineers to churn out innovative methods. Several challenging CRAMS & API projects have been successfully scaled-up and commercialized. Multiple steps process have been successfully made ‘one-pot’ through telescoping. Calyx is actively working on Green Chemistry.

We developed new customers in South Korea and Vietnam for our flagship products. Our exports of Erythromycin salts to Sri Lanka have been overwhelming. We bagged all bids floated by Sri Lankan Government. We have introduced Losartan Potassium and Clarithromycin in Sri Lanka. Customer feed back on satisfaction of our services and products, from this region, is very encouraging. We have introduced following new products into this territory. They are namely; Meclizine dihydrochloride, Cetrizine dihydrochloride and Hydroxyzine dihydrochloride.
In this quarter, we dispatched a couple of prestigious consignments of intermediates for APIs to Japan, giving a positive boom to our exports. Quite a few Japanese pharmaceutical companies are showing their interest in our CRAM activities. |
