Calyx Chemicals to set up R&D centre in Mumbai

NEW DELHI: Drug firm Calyx Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals
is investing Rs 40 crore to set up a research
and development centre in Dombivli near Mumbai as part of
its plans to expand its research and manufacturing services
business.
"Going
forward, we want to expand our Contract Research and
Manufacturing Services (CRAMS) capability and
would invest
Rs 40 crore in setting up a R&D centre near Mumbai,"
Calyx Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals President
(R&D) and Executive Director Bansi Lal told media on the
sidelines of a CII event.
He
said the R&D centre would employ up to 300 scientists
and is expected to be operational by early
next year. The company
is half way through construction and installation of equipment
at the centre, he added.
"With
the R&D centre operational by early 2008 and expansion
in our capacities, we would like to be a major player in CRAMS
segment," Dr. Bansi Lal
added.
